Little Do We Know Tamara Ireland Stone Books

Oh man… I loved every single thing about this book. Once again Tamara Ireland Stone has completely blown me away with her ability to tell an incredibly beautiful and heartbreaking story filled with amazing characters and a unique plot.

Hannah and Emory are ex-best friends and neighbors who just can’t seem to bridge the 36 steps between their rooms and find the common thread that will mend their relationship. That is until Luke, Emory’s boyfriend, ends up doubled over in his car and Hannah is the one that finds him. In the aftermath of the accident, Tamara Ireland Stone delves into faith and friendship between the three friends to show how they must come to terms with their individual beliefs, and how that affects their lives going forward.

I don’t even know where to start with this book. I’m always leery of stories that deal with religion and faith … that’s just a personal thing for me, and I find it hard to read them without them coming across as preachy in some form or another, but that is absolutely not the case here. Ireland Stone weaves the religious elements in seamlessly and the story she tells is more about finding yourself and determining your own beliefs and seeing these three teens work those things out was exactly what I was hoping for.

Friendship is always at the heart of Tamara’s books and that is certainly the case here as well. The story is told in alternating chapters from Hannah and Emory and really gives us the opportunity to understand each of their perspectives.

Tamara also delves into some other issues that teens can and will appreciate. With graduation on the horizon, Emory and Luke and evaluating what that means for their relationship, Luke is deciding on what he really wants to do, and Hannah is dealing with a betrayal from someone she has trusted and believed in and a realization that the future she has always planned for, just may not happen.

With relatable characters and a beautiful story, I highly recommend grabbing this as soon as it’s on shelves.

Little Do We Know Tamara Ireland Stone Books Reviews

A beautifully written story about friendship, faith, love and second chances.
4.5 stars
Love Tamara! The last 70 or so pages were hard to read, just with personal issues I've also been through and where I knew the story was going, but its beautifully done.
2.5 ⭐️ This book just wasn’t really for me, nor was it very good. It’s about faith and friendship at an age where everything is changing and there were a lot of places this book could have gone, but it went a little sideways in my opinion. It was just too far-fetched and then the ending was rushed and not good. The tense of the book was also bouncing back and forth, in the dialogue especially. In the very same sentence it would have past tense with present and it bothered me so much. It did that with the grammar throughout the entire book, so it wasn’t a matter of just a few mixed editing errors. I think this book was aiming to give readers “all the feels” but it failed and fell way short of its goal. I think there needed to be better planning and better rounding out of the characters and each of their stories and for the book as a whole. It had themes, but the messages the book was trying to give were just not achieved.
This book is SO incredibly special and particularly timely (#metoo). I've already read it twice and I can assure you that you are going to want to add this to your TBR immediately (as in, right now)!

I laughed and I cried (both times). It’s been a while since I so deeply connected with a story and its characters. I. LOVE. THIS. BOOK!!! 💖 This is hands-down one of my favorite reads of 2018.

*Disclaimer I received an eARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Little Do We Know is the story of the long-term friendship between Hannah and Emory who have been next door neighbors since they were little girls. An unfortunate misunderstanding has led their friendship astray…can they find their way back to each other?

I loved this story because it focused on the friendship of Hannah and Emory. I feel like there is not enough YA books that focus on the friendship rather than the boys. The relationship between Emory and Luke felt like a deeper relationship than a typical high school romance, and maybe that was because of what they went through together.

SPOILER ALERT I must mention the one problem that I had with the story and that was the kiss between Hannah and Aaron. While I know others may think it’s wrong because of his position and the fact that he’s older, that wasn’t my problem with it. I sensed it coming and hoped that it wouldn’t go there because it felt too obvious. I appreciated how it played out in the end though.

Hannah's thought "All my life, I'd believed that everything happened for a reason. That it was all part of God's plan."..."I didn't think I believed that anymore. Each choice, good and bad, branched out and created a new path, and on and on, piecing itself together along the way, with no real vision for how it would all come together in the end."
